Spiritual Renovation of a Parent’s Heart

Renovation sounds nice until the kitchen walls are knocked out, everything is covered in dust, and you can’t find your frying pan. What happens when the expectations we had for our children are smashed, and it feels like the walls of our heart are getting a sledgehammer through them?  When we experience spiritual renovation in parenting our kids through hard seasons, it can feel like the world is ending. We experience shame, loss, and longings that we realize might never come true. Let’s walk together to see God’s hand of invitation in this season as we wrestle with unspoken expectations, myths we’ve absorbed about parenting, and disappointments that shake the ground beneath our feet.
